John Fedorchuk, CGAP
Mr. Fedorchuk has worked at the Boston Police Department for over 39 years. Many of those years have been at the Audit and Review Division where he is currently Commander of the Division. He has been on the forefront of developing the discipline of police performance and compliance auditing in all areas of operations. His work has been high profile and has received national attention.
During his time with the Boston Police Department, he worked as a Lieutenant Shift Commander handling all areas of patrol and daily operations, as a Lieutenant Detective of Evidence Management, and as a Lieutenant Detective Commander of Area Detectives, Central Supply Division, and Central Drug Depository.
Mr. Fedorchuk has an extensive educational background including a Master in Public Administration degree from Suffolk University Graduate School of Management; a Masters of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning Certificate from the Bentley College Graduate School of Business; and, a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the Curry College. He is a Certified Government Auditing Professional as designated by the Institute of Internal Auditors and has completed a graduate course in internal auditing at Bentley College Graduate School of Business.
Monica Yu, CIA, CGAP, CFE
Ms. Yu has been pivotal in the development of police performance and compliance auditing in the United States. For the past decade, she has been employed at the LAPD. Most of that time has been spent in the Audit Division where she authored the Division’s audit charter, created internal audit processes, procedures, and quality assurance systems. Ms. Yu has conducted and managed performance and compliance audits of the LAPD that have garnered national headlines. She has been directly responsible for many of the milestones during the development of Audit Division that have been publicly lauded by Kroll Worldwide, the Office of the Independent Monitor of the Consent Decree. She was awarded the distinction of “Auditor of the Year” at Audit Division in 2005.
Ms. Yu is an accomplished speaker, author and trainer in the law enforcement audit arena. She was the Subject Matter Expert during the creation of the nation’s first and most prolifically taught Basic Law Enforcement Performance Auditing Course. Several hundred students from law enforcement agencies throughout the United States and Canada have attended this course. Ms. Yu has subsequently designed several groundbreaking audit workshops and courses for various law enforcement agencies and audiences.
Ms. Yu is a graduate of the Master Instructor Development Program sponsored by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. She is a Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Government Auditing Professional as designated by the Institute of Internal Auditors and a Certified Fraud Examiner as designated by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Ms. Yu is currently completing graduate studies in a program that focuses on public sector auditing.
